Mark Leckey and Richard Prince

Exhibition Announcement
Mark Leckey and Richard Prince: live
29.10.22
12 - 8pm

The Fruitmarket Gallery pairs with Sadie Coles Gallery to bring forth a groundbreaking collaboration between Mark Leckey and Richard Prince, two of the international art world’s brightest stars. Born in Birkenhead, Wirral in 1964, Leckey's visionary bridging of technology and the human experience secured him the coveted Turner prize in 2008. The reigning king of appropriation, Prince has long provoked the art world to examine its notions of authorship and ownership. Born in 1949 in the US Panama Canal Zone, his work seems especially auspicious in this time of digital rights and internet privacy debates.

Leckey's and Prince's exhibition begins with a series of online works, which subtly yet decisively reapportion institutional power. Using the internet-ether of pixels and code as (im)materials, credibility is crowd-sourced in this universally-live web of artworks. The project culminates in a monumental, month-long exhibition across Edinburgh, when digital and physical realities collide.
